Light & Music

Light And Music, Paisley Abbey. Artist – John Clark, 1988

The fool-hearty,

the wise

the joker in guise

The message appears

before your eyes

Captivated,

enjoying the dance.

Lost in the music

totally entranced.

A heavenly chorus

immersed in light,

a heart resurrected

a  wondrous sight.

When the insurrection is in the mind, it can never be quelled.
When the resurrection is in the heart, love flows eternal.
When compassion is in the words, healing springs forth
When the revolution is in the actions the game changes forever…

It was so long ago,

when you left me,

with tears in my eyes

I had to say goodbye

Never knowing then,

what I know now,

of how you’d haunt me

with an unannounced,

yet welcome rendezvous

in the astral plane,

for a brief moment in time,

before the alarm bell rings

waking me from a dream

to leave you behind,

like you left me,

all those years ago.

Yearning for sleep to return

I imagine gluing my eyes closed.

Knowing that even a brief glimpse,

is better than the shadows

that have lived in my heart

in the eternity since we parted

I’d never imagined then,

that in the future,

I’d dream of going to sleep

for that brief moment in time

when we were together again.

Sharing a laugh and a hug,

lingering memories that never fade

like the feelings trapped inside

Reminding me that once,

long ago, we were entwined

before you had to go,

leaving me to wonder,

if in another place in time

we are together.

Walking hand in hand,

in a parallel land,

just like this one

laughter etches

lines of our future

on our faces.

instead of tears

from the past

when we say goodbye

to those who touch our soul.

Memories float like ghosts

trapped in an ethereal prison

that no-one but me can see

Hauntingly beautiful,

It was so long ago you left me…

Orange tipped butterfly – female (only males have orange tips)

The butterfly returned

seeking me out

Not just flying by

Pausing for a moment

dancing before my eyes

She spread her wings

revealing her markings

Showing me the other side

“Do you recognise me?”

she seemed to want to know

then I knew for sure

That we had met before.

I smiled in recognition

and together we danced

in the wonder of it all.

Perhaps

Perhaps the tears
that blind us
Are the ice caps melting?

Drowning,
the sorrow of the ages
washes over a world; watching; weeping;
waiting with bated breath
afraid to see
what lies beneath.

Perhaps the flood
we drown in
Is the panic in our eyes?

Dreaming
Of an ancient land released
From its icy prison
That has held it,
And maybe us captive;
Frozen in time
Long forgotten.

Perhaps the faith
That buoys us
Will lead us to our glory?

Dowsing,
In a pool of memories
time means nothing
Creation breathes
Life into an idea;
A wish; a dream;
A land reborn.

img_2570She’d been there before
in a time now past,
unknowing, curious
and caring, bleak
with concern.
The future daunting,
taunting twisted tales
Shrouding mystery
in the soul of her eyes.
Help me, she pleaded.
Let there be light
in these dark days
My hands are here for you
to use, as my soles
tread this sacred land.
And, my mind learns
from the clues
our ancestors left waiting
To reveal to her
when the time was
divine for the tryst
with destiny.
Courageously she
stumbled up mountains
and down again.
Faltering she wavered
waiting until the time
had come, as ordained
To stake her claim
For all the people
Of the world
She knew now
things were different
A Phoenix rose willing
Tears shed for the people,
To cleanse the pain
And wash away the lies
And the longing.
Spaces filled with love
and hope of the better
days to come, peace
replaced the weariness
Her message, love.
A warrior born to rise
to uplift, to shine.
To remove the shadows
Where fear once lived.

What world is waiting

for soles to tread,

passions to invest.

Have I been here before,

or is it a new door?

The future unknown,

unwritten, ink

stains once bare pages

Will it be better here,

or is there more to fear?

Remember treasures

discovered, bond

worlds, as one story.

When does the train arrive,

marked destination thrive?

A poem about the unknown, about change and uncertainty but most of all a poem abut worlds within worlds

Rejection

The moderator has fallen asleep

and logic has left the building.

Isolated from my dreams,

hope shattered once more.

As my broken heart screams for acceptance

from these three strangers symbolising a society

that seeks solutions in experience.

Imagination and creativity trail behind

only a few steps from the starting line.

Too tried to try again,

my only fuel now rage.

Tears blinding, I try to step forward

But I stumble and fall

Slumping to the ground with a thud.

Passers by stop to stare

as friends whisper in my ear

the words I’m not ready to hear

“Whit’s fur ye will no go by ye”

Which I know is true

because I’ve saw it too

But for now, all I can see is how hard it’s been

to have yet another crushed dream.

The Thaw

The Thaw

Wake my child,

Come walk with me

Allow yourself to

Be transported back in time.

Step forward with glee

Hear the sounds serenading your

Journey, crunch, crunch, crunch.

Experience what it’s like to

Dance in the rain of the trees as you

Look up to see only blue sky

Bask in the glory of the sun

Melt like the frost as you

Return home to thaw

Drift off to sleep once more and

Remember always to

Dream

Fully mature she stood before me,

terrifying in her magnificence.

Struggling and straining, getting nowhere;

her desire to be free nearly extinguished.

Little puffs of smoke billowed from her,

reminding me of the glory she once held.

Scarlet and black, a warning to the faint of heart.

Her monstrous girth, petrifying yet tantalising,

inviting me to look deeper, to search for something.

It was then I noticed the shackles.

She was chained, how was it possible?

Tethered to the ground, no longer able to fly,

it was in that moment I looked into her eyes.

I searched beyond the fire and rage,

into the beasts very soul.

There staring back at me

stood my own reflection

cultivated throughout the years.

Inside were all my anxieties,

wrapped up amongst my fears.

The hurt and pain laid bare

glistening like unshed tears.

I reached over to her carefully,

a gentle hand was needed here.

“Oh my darling dragon, don’t fret,

I am here.  I am here.  I am here.”

I stroked that beautiful dragon

and with tenderness I spoke

“You will fly again my darling,

I will liberate you once more.”

Her pleading eyes beseeched me

as she looked towards the door.

It was like I heard her whimper

but I don’t want to fight any more.

“Don’t you worry dragon,

I’ve healed your broken heart

once again, it’s full of love

so when the storm clouds gather

You can soar above.
